Hello! Who are you? Can you tell us a bit about your business and the type of property and clients you work with?
Hi, my name is Ramzey Khoury and I represent first time home buyers. I help them understand the process of owning a home and the risks versus benefits involved in acquiring a home. The good news: A mortgage helps build equity in his/her home while renting does not
What’s your backstory and how did you get into real estate?
It all started in college when I saw how renting a dorm room and student housing was costing me most of my student loan money. I was thinking about how I should plan to buy a house as soon as I start a job after graduation. Luckily in 2006, I found a little cute one-bedroom condo for $50,000 and voila I was a homeowner, the feeling of owning my property and being my own landlord was satisfying because I was paying rent to myself and gaining equity on my home. For four years after, I was looking for rental properties because I wanted to become a landlord myself. Luckily, I had a great realtor who taught me everything about homeownership. He was very patient with me and helped me see all aspects of the process, Over the years, I had bought and sold several houses, learned from the experience, read lots of books and watched HGTV 🙂
Since I love real estate and love to blabber about it all the time, I decided to become a realtor and help people find their dream homes. Several years later, my customer base expanded and I had the pleasure of seeing my clients’ joy when they get the keys to their houses.
Take us through the process of getting starting, landing your first clients, and closing your first transaction:
I mostly land my clients through referrals from my previous clients. Since they were satisfied with my work, they decided to refer me to their family and friends. I start the process by explaining in detail how to acquire a home and then connect them with my list of lenders where they can start the process of getting the financing for their dream home. Of course, we focus on their affordability and match that with finding their dream homes. Once we find the house, we go through the contract process step by step before submitting an offer. I also negotiate in their favor and help explain the risks involved and make it my mission to reduce that risk. If our offer gets executed, I hold their hands through the process until closing inclusive of the due diligence and getting the inspection
Our audience is always curious about details! How many hours did you work per week when first starting? How many listing appointments, doors knocked on, or similar did it take to first build your business?
I started as an investor in single family rental homes and then started to utilize social media to talk about my experiences and the benefits of acquiring a house. People see that passion and hire me as their realtor

When people realized my niche of helping first time home buyers
Since starting, what has worked to attract and retain clients?

I am grateful and doing great, I love showing houses to my prospects and helping them in their journey to finding their dream homes. I will continue to do this wonderful job
Through starting and growing you business, have you learned anything particularly helpful or advantageous?
Yes, always cover your basis and make sure to have an experienced realtor on your side that can educate you on the risk, hold your hand through the whole process of acquiring a home and help deter you away from homes that don’t meet your criteria or could cause potential problems
What platform or tools do you use for your business?
My excel spreadsheet, the MLS for due diligence, the world wide web and county websites
What have been the most influential books, podcasts, or other resources for you?

What is your #1 piece of advice for others just started in real estate?
Work hard and put your client first
There is a LOT of talk about how new technology and new business models are entering real estate (unique brokerage models like EXP, Redfin, Compass), iBuyers (Opendoor, Zillow Offers), and consolidation of technology (Zillow buying Showingtime). What do YOU think the agent’s job looks like 10 years from now? How do things change?
A computer will not replace a human brain and how to strategize towards reaching a goal
